To be certified as an Imabari Towel, each product must pass a series of rigorous tests.
The most iconic is the “absorbency test,” where an unwashed towel must sink within five seconds of being placed in water. This test is conducted both before and after three washes to ensure consistent performance.

Additional tests for lint shedding, color fastness, and durability must also be passed. Only those that meet all the criteria are allowed to bear the official Imabari Towel brand mark.
